Green Skills that power India’s transition—and protect livelihoods
TapovON Learning prepares youth—especially women and rural communities—for real jobs in solar and electric mobility, through hands-on training, apprenticeships, and industry-ready curriculum.
About Us

India aims to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, including 280 GW from solar (MNRE, 2025a). As of March 2025, renewables totalled 220.10 GW, with solar at 123.13 GW (MNRE, 2025b), leaving a need to add over 157 GW of solar in five years. Simultaneously, the government targets 30% of new vehicle sales to be electric by 2030 (NITI Aayog, 2022).
Together, these transitions in renewable energy and e-mobility are expected to create millions of Green Skills-driven jobs across solar manufacturing, installation, park operations, and EV workforce development — underscoring the urgent need to train and certify India’s youth in Green Skills for a sustainable future.

The Why Behind
Green Skills
If we were to go back in time, 10 years back to when SwitchON started with the Green Skills project, it began with a realization that struck us while working with farmers and peasants. It became apparent to us that the children of these farmers were often not too keen on farming. Their vision of a career was a salaried job. That was what moved SwitchON Foundation to set up solar training centres under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), which has since blossomed into a movement with dedicated focus on creating green jobs in the areas of renewable energy, agriculture and the waste management sector. A workforce for a Net-Zero India.
